| New MIPS Core Supports Multithreading |
By BDTI, 2/22/2006 This month MIPS announced its first multi-threaded licensable core, the MIPS32 34K. The multi-threading capabilities of the 34K are highly unusual—not only in comparison to the other MIPS cores, but also in comparison to most other embedded processors. These unusual features make the 34K an inviting target for integrating signal-processing and non-signal-processing tasks on a single core.

| Jeff Bier’s Impulse Response – Bamboozling with Benchmarks, Part 1 |
By Jeff Bier, 2/22/2006 Good benchmarks play an essential role in evaluating processing engines. Unfortunately, benchmarks are often misused, creating confusion and mistrust. Most people don't set out to use benchmark results deceptively; they may simply be unaware of benchmarking pitfalls. To keep from falling into these traps, we've created our Top Ten list of ways in which benchmarks are abused.
